Dr Ricardo José is a Clinical lecturer in Translational Medicine (Respiratory Medicine) in the Research Department of Respiratory Medicine at University College London. He received his undergraduate degree in Medicine from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He holds a Diploma in Anaesthetics from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa, a Postgraduate Certificate in Public Health from the University of Manchester, and PhD in respiratory infection, inflammation and immunity from University College London. He trained in Respiratory Medicine and General Internal Medicine in London following Core Medical Training in Manchester and is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (London). He is past member of British Thoracic Society Council and BTS Science and Research Committee, and has won awards from the Royal Society of Medicine, Academy of Medical Sciences and European Respiratory Society. He has a specialist interest in respiratory infections, acute lung injury and pulmonary disease associated with cancer.
