Asking patients “do you take any medications?” is not enough!!!—a case of spontaneous unilateral adrenal hemorrhage due to ingestion of OTC & herbal medications

Adrenal hemorrhage is a rare but serious condition which is usually fatal if not diagnosed and treated in time. Unilateral adrenal hemorrhage is extremely rare and often occurs due to shock, trauma, anticoagulation, disseminated intravascular coagulation and meningococcal septicemia. Spontaneous hemorrhages in adrenal cyst and neoplasm can also present with spontaneous unilateral adrenal hemorrhage. Here we present first case of a patient with unilateral adrenal hemorrhage which occurred most likely due to excessive ingestion of herbal medications.
